Autolib' à Paris: Roll in a Bluecar!

I was walking around avenue Philippe Auguste today, when I saw this:

Autolib' coming soon to Paris! It's like a Velib - but with cars!

I'd heard this was coming to Paris, but I had no idea it would be so soon. After Googling "autolib' in Paris" I learned that 66 electric "Bluecars" and 33 stations will be available for use starting SUNDAY - with more on the way if the test run proves successful. C'est fou non?

I'm very interested in the logistique of this thing - I think it's a great concept, but I'm a little skeptical as to how it will actually work out. I'll keep you posted as I watch the construction (and usage) move forward.  Didn't they already try it out in Germany?  I guess if it worked for the Germans, it should work for us, right?

à voir...

ps - can we please talk about how they are calling them "Bluecars"... en anglais??? I'll bet the Académie Française is having a shit fit.

  1. Yes, I have a station right near my place too, and I'm very curious about how it's going to work. But I think it's a great concept, having a car in Paris -which I don't, I can't even drive :( -is so "galère"... (How would you say that in English by the way?)
